Privacy policy

Effective July 28, 2026

The core privacy promise is simple: images selected for compression are processed on your device and are not uploaded to ImageCompressor.pics.

Who operates this site

ImageCompressor.pics is an independent web utility. Questions about this policy can be sent to contact@imagecompressor.pics.

Image processing

Selected images are decoded, cropped, resized, re-encoded, previewed, and packaged inside your browser. The site does not provide an image upload API and does not store image contents, previews, local paths, or file names on its servers.

The browser may temporarily hold source and result data in memory or its local cache while the page is open. Temporary object URLs are revoked when files are removed or the page closes.

Metadata removal

Downloaded results are newly encoded from decoded pixels. Original EXIF metadata, including stored camera and GPS information, is not copied into the output. Useful metadata such as copyright fields and capture dates may also be removed.

Technical server data

Hosting and security providers may process ordinary request data needed to deliver and protect the site, such as IP address, request time, requested URL, browser user agent, TLS details, and security signals. This data is used for delivery, abuse prevention, reliability, and incident investigation.

Optional Google Analytics 4

Google Analytics 4 is blocked until you choose "Allow analytics." If you continue without analytics, the Google tag is not loaded and the site does not send analytics events.

When allowed, GA4 may collect page views, session statistics, approximate location, browser and device information, referrer information, and first-party identifiers such as the _ga cookie. ImageCompressor.pics may also send aggregate tool events containing the selected target size, output format, completed file count, and target-hit count.

We do not send file names, image contents, image previews, local file paths, contact-form contents, or sensitive document data to GA4. See Google's data collection documentation and Google's privacy policy.

Consent preference storage

The site stores your analytics choice in local storage under the key imagecompressor-analytics-consent. This small value records only "accepted" or "declined." You can clear it through your browser's site-data controls to see the choice again.

Advertising and third-party cookies

The site may use Google AdSense or another advertising service in the future. If advertising is enabled, Google and other third-party vendors may place or read cookies, use web beacons, collect IP addresses or other identifiers, and process data to measure or personalize ads where permitted.

Required consent controls will be provided before advertising cookies are enabled for visitors who need them. You can learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services at Google's partner-sites policy and manage ad personalization at Google Ads Settings.

Legal bases and purposes

  • Site delivery, security, and abuse prevention are processed for legitimate operational interests and to provide the requested service.
  • Optional analytics is processed only after consent where consent is required.
  • Communication data is processed to answer the request you send.
  • Advertising cookies and personalized advertising, if introduced, will use consent where required by law or Google policy.

Data sharing

We do not sell image data or personal information. Ordinary website data may be processed by infrastructure, security, analytics, and advertising providers for the purposes described above. It may also be disclosed when required by law or needed to protect the site and its users.

Retention

Image files are not retained by the site. Hosting security logs are retained according to the hosting provider's operational settings. Optional analytics data follows the retention controls configured in Google Analytics. Email correspondence is kept only as long as reasonably needed to resolve the request and meet legal or security obligations.

International processing

Service providers may process data in countries other than your own. Their privacy terms and applicable transfer safeguards govern that processing.

Your choices and rights

  • Decline optional analytics in the on-site choice.
  • Clear site data to remove the saved choice and analytics cookies.
  • Use browser privacy controls, tracker blocking, or private browsing.
  • Contact us to ask about personal data contained in direct correspondence.
  • Use applicable access, deletion, correction, restriction, portability, or objection rights available in your jurisdiction.

Children

The service is a general-audience image utility and is not directed to children under 13. Do not submit personal information through email if you are not permitted to do so.

Changes to this policy

This page will be updated before a material change to image handling, analytics, advertising, or other data practices takes effect. The effective date at the top identifies the current version.
